About the Role
FSM Group, LLC, an aviation fuel management company, is seeking Mechanics to maintain ground services equipment at its JFK airport operation. The role ensures equipment is operational and meets safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and routine repair services on ground services equipment.
- Conduct coolant and fluid checks.
- Perform brake checks and tire changes.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues.
- Complete repairs and refurbishments of equipment.
- Conduct safety checks on service equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and federal fingerprint background check.
- Possess 1-2 years of mechanical experience (preferably auto mechanic, box truck, HVAC, refrigeration systems, etc.).
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Possess general knowledge of carburetors, alternators, starter motors, batteries, hydraulics, small engines, radiators, and diesel engines.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Possess basic mathematical skills.
- Demonstrate regular, predictable attendance at the airport location.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate in English with customers, coworkers, or supervisors.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Basic understanding of computer applications and data entries.
- Must be able to climb up and down stairs and ladders with 50+ steps and work at heights of 50 feet or more.
- Must be able to get in and out of vehicles of varying sizes and heights.
- Must be able to drive and operate vehicles and equipment of various sizes, including automated lifts up to 26 feet.
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds overhead.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds to waist level.
- Must be able to shovel materials such as snow, sand, dirt, gravel, or rocks as needed.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, twist, climb, and balance for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical movements, including bending at the waist and knees, and sustaining awkward or physically demanding positions.
- Capable of climbing and standing on step ladders while performing overhead work.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grip, and operate tools, equipment, and controls.
- Ability to hear and respond to verbal instructions, environmental sounds, and audible alarms.
- Maintain close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
- Maintain distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
- Maintain color vision (identify and distinguish between colors).
- Maintain peripheral vision (see up/down and side-to-side while focused on a central point).
- Maintain depth perception (assess distance and spatial relationships).
- Ability to adjust focus (sharpen vision at various distances).
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
- Tolerate frequent exposure to moderate to high noise levels.
- Tolerate frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous substances, materials, or waste.
- Ability to work near or around moving mechanical parts.
- Ability to work near or around high-voltage equipment.
- Ability to work near or around hydraulic and pneumatic systems operating under high pressure.
- Ability to work in elevated or precarious positions, such as on lifts, ladders, or elevated platforms.
