About the Role

Under direct supervision of a Professional Engineer, use engineering knowledge to perform routine engineering projects/assignments requiring limited judgment within defined methods, procedures, and practices for the application of standards and criteria necessary to fulfill the experience requirement for licensure as a professional engineer.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and maintenance of design drawings, diagrams, charts, databases plans and permits.
• Develop proposals for impacts and perform preliminary and final designs.
• Prepare design criteria for assigned projects.
• Assist in the preparation of standards, equipment specifications, design procedures, and test procedures.
• Review and provide assistance in the evaluation and recommendation for job safety procedures.
• Coordinate and provide technical information to customers, including inter and intra departmental personnel, other government agencies, contractors, consultants, and the public.
• Use computerized software programs and drafting to prepare drawings and maps.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to assigned work or projects.
• Develop, analyze, and generate technical reports, correspondence, and official documents.
• Assist in the preparation of estimates of quantities, materials, equipment, labor, and facilities for budgets, programs, schedules, contract payments, and other purposes.
• Conduct field inspections of contractor work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Draft and recommend contract change orders and payments for approval.
• Perform statistical analysis to ensure specifications are within established guidelines.
• Wastewater Collection & Decentralized Reclaimed Water System Planning – Hydraulic modeling, alternative analysis, troubleshooting, planning, prioritization of infrastructure projects.
• Hydraulic Modeling – Updating, calibrating, and using Wastewater Models for collection system planning and analysis.
• GIS Analysis – Use GIS for system analysis and mapping. Integrate AW databases with hydraulic models and prepare and maintain planning databases.
• Long Range Plan – Perform Planning Analysis and prepare planning documents for future infrastructure.
• Capacity Planning for Facilities (Wastewater Treatment Plants, Lift Stations, Water and Reclaimed Water Pump Stations & Reservoirs).
• Wastewater Flow Forecasts for Infrastructure Planning related to Wastewater Reclaimed Water, and Biosolids Infrastructure.

Requirements

• Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.

• Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job.

• Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
• Experience working with large data sets.
• Experience with GIS.

Work Type

• Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with some flexibility
• Work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location.
