About the Role
The NYC Department of Design and Construction seeks an experienced Architect to manage project scope development, analyze existing conditions, review consultant documents, and oversee in-house design projects. This role involves coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to ensure compliance with schedules, budgets, and codes, and interfacing with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Project scope development
- Existing conditions and forensic analysis
- Review of design and construction documents prepared by consultants
- Preparation and review of documents and construction administration for in-house design projects
- Coordinate the work of multi-disciplinary teams
- Ensure compliance with project schedules, budgets, and applicable codes
- Interface with sponsors, consultants, contractors, project managers, and other technical staff
Requirements
- Permanent in the Administrative Architect title or reachable on the DDC promotional list (exam #6501) or open-competitive list (exam #6001)
- Indicate a copy of your Notice of Result card or if you are already permanent in the title
- Must meet civil service criteria to be considered for an interview
- Authorization to work in the United States is required
- NYC Department of Design and Construction does not provide sponsorship for international employees
- Applicants are responsible for ensuring they meet all qualifying requirements at the time of application
- A valid New York State Registration as an Architect is required
- Six (6) years of full-time paid experience in architectural work
- At least two (2) years of which shall have been as an administrative architect

- Thorough knowledge of project delivery methodologies
- Thorough knowledge of the latest technologies and innovations in the field
