About the Role
The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Borough Based Jails (BBJ) Division seeks a Senior Construction Project Manager to manage complex capital commitment projects from conception through close-out. This role involves reviewing projects, overseeing scope, developing schedules, supervising staff, and liaising with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Manage complex capital commitment projects.
- Review proposed projects to determine how and when the work should be performed.
- Work with Sponsor Agencies to ensure an understanding of project scope.
- Oversee projects from conception, through design development, to construction completion and project close-out.
- Develop deliverable dates to determine schedules that should be adhered to.
- Supervise, coordinate, and direct project’s construction management and construction staff.
- Appraise the Project Executive of any issues with scheduling, cost, and construction.
- Liaise among the BBJ Program Management Consultant (PMC), Design-Builders, regulatory entities/agencies having jurisdiction and DDC.
- Maintain comprehensive project history files.
- Help coordinate project schedules.
- Address construction and design issues.
- Review change orders.
- Review project correspondence and reports.
- Utilize the agency’s technical resources to ensure that the projects meet the Agency’s Commitment Plan objectives.
Requirements
- Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work.
- A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License.
- Current New York State registration as a Professional Engineer must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
- Must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.).
- Must present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S. at time of offer.
- Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution.
- Credentials from foreign institutions require independent equivalency verification from an approved evaluation service.
- Individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project for Assignment Levels II and III.
