About the Role

The Department of Records and Information Services is seeking a Computer Systems Manager Non-Manager to serve as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). This role is responsible for compliance with Citywide Information Security Policies and providing high-level support for the agency’s computing infrastructure. The ideal candidate is an experienced technology professional with a strong understanding of modern computing practices and hands-on experience with networks, servers, and software configuration standards.

Responsibilities

Coordinate agency technology upgrades with the Office of Technology and Innovation.
Oversee security awareness strategy and programs, including annual employee training and ongoing awareness campaigns.
Ensure compliance with City of New York, Citywide Information Security Policies.
Track cyber security incidents and vulnerability reports and work on remediation of issues.
Ensure identity and access management policies are documented.
Produce documentation as needed.
Ensure all IT systems are equipped and updated with necessary cyber protection tools.
Continuously check for security gaps, document findings, and take necessary measures to rectify issues.
Verify patches and software updates are properly done, resolving any inconsistencies.
Analyze vulnerability reports and operationalize them for remediation with the Tech support team.
Assess endpoint system health and suggest improvement or remediation steps.

Requirements

Master's degree in computer science and three (3) years of IT experience (applications development, systems development, data communications and networking, database administration, data processing, or user services), with at least 18 months in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity.
Baccalaureate degree in computer science and four (4) years of IT experience as described above.
High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) years of IT experience as described above.
Combination of education and experience equivalent to the above, with at least a high school diploma and three (3) years of IT experience, including 18 months in an administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory capacity.
Undergraduate credits may substitute for up to two years of IT experience (30 semester credits for 6 months).
Graduate credits in computer science may substitute for up to one year of IT experience (30 graduate semester credits for 1 year).
Credits cannot substitute for the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory experience.
