About the Role
The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is seeking a Junior Engineer to join their Construction Management 2 – South Queens – Section 2 team. The role involves hands-on training and contribution to engineering tasks, research studies, investigations, and assessments.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research studies, engineering investigations, and assessments related to various engineering functions.
- Carry out civil engineering tasks of moderate complexity under supervision.
- Participate in specialized areas including design, drafting, engineering investigations, cost estimation, specification writing, structural calculations, field surveys, and design-related site inspections.
Requirements
- Must be permanent in the Construction Project Manager Intern title or reachable on the open-competitive exam #0147.
- Must include a copy of Notice of Results or indicate permanent status in the title.
- Must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States.
- Must present original documents proving citizenship or legal right to work.
- ACI Concrete Field -Testing and OSHA 10-hour Certified or willingness to take DDC-offered training.
- Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.

Education Level
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in architecture, architectural technology, landscape architecture, construction, construction technology or construction management, or chemical, civil including structural, bridge design or sanitary, electrical, or mechanical engineering or engineering technology.
- Four years of full-time satisfactory experience performing construction inspection or construction management work on construction projects.
- Four years of full-time satisfactory experience in building construction as a journeyperson in one of more of the skilled building construction trades.
- A valid license as a professional engineer or registered architect issued by a board of examining engineers or architects duly established and qualified pursuant to the laws of any state or territory of the United States.
- Combination of education and experience sufficient to equal a total of four years.
