About the Role

Manage Evaluation projects, validate and evaluate fragrances in accordance with customer needs and requirements, playing the part of the “consumer” and brand expert in selecting fragrances for submission. Proactively identify white space within brand offering, and fragrance nuances that align with brand DNA. The Fragrance Development Manager level applies extensive expertise and represents the organization as an essential spokesperson on projects with clients of moderate-high importance and value.

Responsibilities

  • Make fragrance selections through collaboration between perfumery and evaluation, including smelling sessions, open dialogue, and shared decision-making.
  • Manage assigned project portfolio by identifying objectives including fragrance characteristics, timetable, priority, cost, competitive price, and customer or market potential.
  • Responsible for final fragrance selection for all consumer insight sensory testing, potentially including global selection.
  • Select and develop commercially viable fragrances for assigned accounts.
  • Act in a supporting capacity to the evaluation department for floating accounts.
  • Maintain knowledge of assigned accounts including product lines, current fragrances, and submission requirements.
  • Continuously enhance market knowledge and consumer understanding in given areas of specialization, staying current with new market products, consumer tastes, and olfactive trends.
  • May be responsible for managing and developing junior team members.
  • Responsible for supervision of the department in the absence of the CFD.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and follow-up on stability.
  • Interact with all internal fragrance departments, customers, industry contacts, vendors, and MANE Affiliates.
  • Responsible for the assignment of accounts and supervision of the evaluation department in the absence of the CFD.
  • May supervise or mentor CFMs or Junior CFMs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of fragrance evaluation experience.

  • Strong project and system management skills

  • Expert Olfactive ability
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
