About the Role

As a Project Manager in Urban Water Management, you will be responsible for the planning and independent execution of projects across all HOAI service phases, including on-site construction supervision. You will support the acquisition of new projects and the creation of proposals and concepts. This role involves developing concepts and solutions for municipal and industrial drainage systems, planning sewer networks, pumping stations, rainwater retention basins, and infiltration systems. You will also work on sewer rehabilitation projects, develop strategies for heavy rainfall preparedness and climate adaptation in urban areas, and consult with clients, authorities, and other project stakeholders. Responsibilities include preparing tenders, specifications, and award documents, overseeing construction projects for cost, schedule, and quality, and managing interdisciplinary teams. You will lead projects both technically and economically, including cost calculation, budget control, and financial monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects in urban water management, particularly in wastewater disposal and rainwater management.
  • Support project acquisition, proposal preparation, and concept development.
  • Develop concepts and solutions for municipal and industrial drainage systems.
  • Plan sewer networks, pumping stations, rainwater retention basins, and infiltration systems.
  • Develop concepts and execute projects for sewer rehabilitation (open and trenchless methods).
  • Develop measures and strategies for heavy rainfall preparedness and climate adaptation in urban areas.
  • Consult and coordinate with clients, authorities, and other project stakeholders.
  • Prepare tenders, specifications, and award documents.
  • Oversee construction projects in urban water management regarding costs, deadlines, and quality.
  • Support and coordinate interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provide technical and economic project leadership, including cost calculation, budget control, and financial project monitoring.

Requirements

  • Completed degree in civil or environmental engineering, or a career changer from similar fields with the specified skills.
  • Several years of sound professional experience in the mentioned areas with a focus on urban water management.
  • Comprehensive experience in project management (deadlines, costs, contracts) and associated reporting.
  • Confident interaction with clients, business partners, and employees.
  • Existing network in the civil engineering, urban water management, sewer construction, or pipeline construction sector in the Berlin area.
  • Interest in deepening expert knowledge and actively expanding Arcadis' business activities in projects.
  • Entrepreneurial thinking, commitment, and willingness to perform.
  • Independent, team-oriented, and self-responsible working style, as well as professional handling of deadline and cost management.
  • Fluent German language skills, both written and spoken.
