About the Role
Support the implementation of an international project commissioned by the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO), focusing on the political transformation of non-state armed groups and operationalizing UN Integrated DDR Standards. This role contributes to more effective peace processes, DDR programming, and political transitions.
Responsibilities
- Support the overall coordination and implementation of the project in close collaboration with the Project Lead and UN counterparts.
- Support the design, organisation and documentation of on-the-ground advisory activities in conflict-affected contexts, international workshops and policy dialogues.
- Coordinate logistics for international travels, workshops and field missions.
- Co-lead the preparation, review and editing of practitioner primers and guidance notes.
- Prepare meeting minutes, background papers, presentations and briefing materials.
- Liaise regularly with the UN Peacebuilding Support Office, project consultants and external partners.
- Support reporting, work planning and financial monitoring in coordination with Berghof's finance and administration teams.
- Collaborate with Berghof communications colleagues on project visibility and dissemination.
- Contribute to identifying opportunities for strategic partnerships, outreach and knowledge exchange.
- Regular international travel.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, Security Studies or a related discipline.
- Several years of professional experience in managing complex international projects.
- Excellent organisational and coordination skills with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience organising international workshops, conferences or policy dialogues.
- Experience working with international organisations, government institutions and international NGOs.
- Knowledge of DDR, mediation, peace processes, political transitions or peacebuilding.
- Experience working with/in conflict-affected countries.
- Familiarity with publication and editing processes.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills and experience with collaborative project management tools.
