About the Role
This role leads cyber security delivery for Vocalink Limited, a critical part of the UK's national infrastructure. The successful candidate will join a high-performing team dedicated to providing a secure and resilient service to millions of citizens daily, handling trillions of pounds in transactions. The VP, Cyber Security Risk & Control articulates the firm’s risk appetite and posture, translating technical security outcomes into actionable insights for stakeholders and guiding cyber investment, strategy, and execution. This is a foundational role for the company's strategy, aiming to retain and grow board, customer, shareholder, and regulator confidence, and is vital for business growth and the future of the UK Payments ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Attract and retain a high-performing team of cyber professionals, engaging and developing talent.
- Lead the management and reporting of Cyber Risk for the firm, running the key governance committee.
- Lead the design and production of all cyber MI for the firm, informing the board, customers, and regulators of the security posture and residual risks.
- Mature nascent threat modeling and residual-risk quantification techniques.
- Design and deliver regular reports to the board, Executive Committee, and customers, including in-person presentations and Q&A.
- Play a leading role in the security leadership team, delivering overall strategy and operation.
- Deputize for the Business Security Officer in internal, customer- and regulator-facing situations.
- Lead the implementation of cyber security policies and procedures to minimize risk exposure and drive control maturity.
- Co-ordinate 1LOD activities around certifications such as PCI, SWIFT, ISO270001, ISAE3402.
- Act as a central point of co-ordination for all assurance activities, working with 2LOD, 3LOD, and the 1LOD controls office.
- Work with technology and operations colleagues to find synergies, trade-offs, and optimal outcomes for the firm and its customers.
- Drive cross-functional initiatives to deliver on risk goals, policies, and procedures, advancing overall maturity.
- Oversee security aspects of third-party risk with operations colleagues.
Requirements
- Proven ability to create outcomes or timely escalations with options, rejecting "drift".
- Ability to lead teams, attracting, engaging, and retaining talent, minimizing friction, and developing people.
- Breadth and depth of cyber security achievements in a highly regulated environment.
- Experience dealing with matrix organizations, ideally including large multinationals.
- Experience presenting to, and working with senior partners in regulators, boards, and customer organizations.
- Ability to simplify data and distill messages to create compelling, accurate narratives for stakeholders of all seniorities.
- Ability to work closely with risk and audit colleagues to deliver relevant and high value-add assurance.
- Track record of embedding security controls in a complex organization, managing competing demands to drive down aggregate residual risk.
- Strong influencing skills; organizationally savvy.
- Customer focus and commercially aware – a passion for excellence, balanced with pragmatism and agility.
- Motivated and conscientious, with a sense of humor and perspective.
