About the Role
Support children and young people with complex needs, ensuring they receive the right help at the right time. This role involves managing casework, liaising with professionals, and ensuring legal responsibilities are met under the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEN Code of Practice.
Responsibilities
- Manage statutory and non-statutory casework for vulnerable pupils.
- Ensure legal responsibilities under the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEN Code of Practice are met.
- Handle complex cases and those involving legal proceedings.
- Complete, review, and update Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) on time.
- Provide consistent support and oversight to pupils with additional vulnerabilities.
- Liaise with schools, parents, social workers, and health professionals.
- Maintain accurate records on the case management system.
- Facilitate smooth school transitions for pupils with EHCPs.
Requirements
- Educated to A-Level or equivalent work experience in the SEN field.
- Sound understanding of key legislation governing SEND, including the Children and Families Act (2014), the SEN Code of Practice (2015), and the Education Act (1996).
- Hands-on experience managing casework or a caseload in an education, health, or local authority setting.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Comfortable using case management systems and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, able to build trust with parents, schools, and professionals.
- Empathy and resilience to handle difficult conversations.
- Confidence to negotiate and resolve issues.

- Enhanced DBS required.
