About the Role
This role involves deciding how an entire enterprise uses Power BI and implementing that vision. You will shape the governed semantic layer, enterprise design standards, and community of practice for a modern cloud data platform with Power BI as the strategic reporting layer. It requires a blend of technical Power BI expertise, adoption leadership, and training capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Own the enterprise Power BI adoption roadmap with measurable adoption and value targets.
- Build engagement from the ground up, including stakeholder buy-in, a champions network, forums, clinics, and a community of practice.
- Design and deliver structured training programs, workshops, and learning materials for various user levels.
- Shape the governed semantic layer in collaboration with data engineering, defining KPIs, certification processes, naming conventions, and refresh strategies.
- Author the enterprise reporting Design Guide, establishing standards, templates, palettes, and UX conventions.
- Establish workspace governance, including deployment pipelines, Dev/QA/Prod design, RLS/CLS, sensitivity labelling, and auditability.
- Build and optimize flagship dashboards, and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Reduce duplicated, ungoverned reporting and demonstrate the impact.
Requirements
- Power BI technical depth, including enterprise-scale delivery, advanced DAX, Power Query/M, semantic model design and optimization, large/complex datasets, workspace strategy and administration, RLS, and certified datasets.
- Ability to coach on Power BI best practices and challenge poor implementations.
- Adoption and change leadership experience, including creating enterprise adoption roadmaps, running champion networks, driving cultural change, and measuring adoption/business value.
- Experience designing and delivering structured training programs and building training materials.
- Knowledge of governance and operating models for Power BI, including reporting standards, dashboard design principles, workspace management, certified dataset processes, and self-service controls.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric architecture, capacity, and medallion/lakehouse patterns (desirable).
- Experience with Power Apps, ideally integrated with Power BI (desirable).
- Experience with sensitive, confidential, or regulated data (desirable).
- Azure exposure (desirable).
- PL-300 certification (desirable).
