About the Role

As an Intermediate/Design Engineer, you will take an active role in the delivery of a variety of building projects across the UK, across a range of sectors including residential, education, commercial development, leisure, net zero/low carbon and regeneration. You will have the opportunity to work alongside industry experts with a variety of engineering and consultancy skills to provide integrated coordinated designs with high profile private and public-sector clients and collaborators within an award winning practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering discipline design, analysis, calculation and drawing input
  • Undertake engineering design and analysis while being supervised by others, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communication systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • Identify problems and opportunities, assess and resolve problems using qualitative and quantitative measures, while being supervised by others
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimates, and risk assessments for proposed designs
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, including architects, structural engineers, and contractors, to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly
  • Input into the production of high quality written reports on a range of projects
  • Prepare, present, and self-check technical data, drawings and tenders, under the supervision of others and taking part in reviews by others of your work
  • Use industry standard analysis and calculation software
  • Be part of internal reviews
  • Self-check and check others’ work
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations, such as IEEE, NEC, IEC, and local building codes
  • Comply with the duties of Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015
  • Comply with the practice QMS, including self-checking
  • Communicate clearly and openly internally and externally with peers and clients
  • Manage your own project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively

Requirements

  • Experienced electrical engineer with a good understanding of Building Services MEP
  • Keen eye for technical detail
  • Collaborative, proactive and organised
  • Enjoy working closely with engineers and wider design teams to produce accurate, coordinated and well-presented designs and models
  • Helpful and positive approach
  • Proactive, organised and keen to develop their electrical engineering capability within a collaborative engineering environment
