About the Role

Paralegals provide vital support to fee earners across five offices, assisting with case management, filings, hearings, legal research, and document management. Flexibility in hours and international travel is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain large electronic and paper case files.
  • Manage underlying day-to-day case aspects through implementation of procedures for maintaining materials/documents received from clients.
  • Index materials or organize for upload to the database for review by the associate team.
  • Manage correspondence on disputes.
  • Conduct first-level document reviews with trainee lawyers and interns.
  • Assist with written work during submission phases, ensuring consistent style application.
  • Conduct cite-checking and proofreading.
  • Manage the collection and organization of supporting documentation.
  • Lead the logistical planning of hearings, including negotiating contracts with transcribers, interpreters, and venues.
  • Work with other fee-earners on opening/closing presentations, including PowerPoint presentations.
  • Assist with the preparation of cross-examination bundles.
  • Attend hearings to provide in-person, on-the-spot support.

Requirements

  • Currently working as a paralegal or legal assistant at a leading international dispute resolution practice on high-value, complex disputes (commercial litigation, international arbitrations, or PIL).
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent academic background.
  • Degree level education.
  • Law degree or equivalent legal study (e.g., SQE, Legal Practice Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma in Law).
  • Excellent verbal and written English.
  • Team player attitude with a clear appreciation of client service.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and provide proactive support.
  • Self-starter with high levels of energy and drive.
  • Professionalism and confidence in dealing with senior stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Proactivity, resourcefulness, and ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce work to the highest standard of accuracy.
  • Ability to see the big picture and remain calm under pressure while juggling multiple projects.
  • Experience of complex diary management and scheduling.
  • Ability to exercise judgment with regard to priorities/urgency and resolve conflicting appointments.
  • Technical proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and office equipment.
  • Experience of undertaking research and document production.
  • Experience of e-discovery or case management databases is a plus.

Skills

  • Spanish language skills (a plus)
  • Westlaw, PLC, or specific arbitration databases knowledge (helpful)
  • E-discovery or case management databases experience (a plus)
