About the Role
Blackstone seeks to recruit into their International Tax team in London. The role will be primarily focused on European Private Equity investments and will provide execution capacity across transaction support, platform management, portfolio value creation, and investor and reporting support.
Responsibilities
- Support the International Tax team in London on all areas of tax planning, structuring, modelling and diligence for European Private Equity transactions.
- Collaborate with deal teams, finance teams, portfolio company management, tax advisors and legal counsel to ensure structures are implemented as designed and are aligned with strategic objectives.
- Be responsible for ongoing structuring and maintenance of investment platforms and holding companies for European Private Equity investments.
- Work with portfolio companies to identify, assess and implement tax optimization, risk management and process improvement initiatives.
- Assist with Due Diligence Questionnaires and participate in investor calls for fundraising.
- Assist the Blackstone investor reporting team in relation to Retail Fund reporting.
- Be a key contact for our tax advisors on European Private Equity matters.
- Keep up to date on latest tax developments and share knowledge with the wider tax and deal teams through tax updates and training sessions.
- Participate and contribute towards global and regional initiatives to support Blackstone’s tax strategy.
- Liaise with global tax teams to ensure that information is collated to support all US tax filings and reporting.
- Other ad-hoc project work.
Requirements
- 7+ years’ experience in international tax, with a focus on private equity transactions.
- Strong technical expertise in European corporate tax regimes, cross-border structuring, and M&A tax considerations.
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional tax projects and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience setting-up /dealing with SPVs / investment platform with an awareness of main cross-border tax implications, i.e. substance, corporate governance, beneficial ownership; and knowledgeable about BEPS initiatives (MLI, ATAD…)
- Strong analytical rigor.
- Excellent communication skills and experience interacting with deal and finance teams.
- Driven and proactive.
- A team player who can produce deliverables of a high quality and on-schedule.
- Ability to work independently and to take on additional responsibilities.
