About the Role

Our Data, AI & MarTech Department is seeking an experienced Data Platform Engineer to enhance and develop our cloud-based data platform, which is central to Smartbroker’s technical data infrastructure for business analytics and insights. This role is crucial for fostering a data-driven culture throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve the cloud-based data platform for data analytics and business insights using innovative data technologies.
  • Build end-to-end data pipelines, from raw data ingestion to consumable data, including preparing and cleaning data and developing data models for analytics and AI.
  • Implement data quality monitoring to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data pipelines.
  • Architect, code, and deploy data infrastructure components.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and product technology colleagues.
  • Stay updated on the latest market developments in data cloud architecture and share knowledge.

Requirements

  • University degree in computer science, mathematics, natural sciences, or a similar field.
  • Several years of experience in data engineering with expertise in building robust, scalable, and maintainable data platforms.
  • Significant hands-on experience designing and operating data pipelines on cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP) using services like S3, Athena, and BigQuery.
  • Experience in data warehousing and containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud networking and security (IAM, security groups).
  • Proficient and experienced with Infrastructure as Code.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering best practices, including requirements specification, version control, CI/CD, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Excellent English communication skills; German is a plus.
  • Interest in the finance and fintech industry.
  • A sense of humor.
