About the Role

This is a high-impact role in a complex industrial environment, ideal for someone who can influence, engage, and drive continuous improvement. You will lead a site-wide safety vision, maintain a robust auditing system, implement behavioural safety programmes, conduct high-quality investigations, and manage fire protection, contractor management, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a site-wide safety vision that aligns with global H&S ambitions.
  • Maintain a robust auditing system to ensure risks are controlled and improvement areas identified.
  • Implement behavioural safety programmes that genuinely shift mindsets.
  • Conduct high-quality investigations, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage fire protection, contractor management, and compliance across a complex industrial and port-based environment.
  • Engage across departments, functions, and global EHS networks.
  • Support Plaistow site during absences or incidents.
  • Build strong partnerships across operations, commercial teams, and global EHS networks.
  • Provide regular safety performance reports to regional and corporate EHS leaders.
  • Ensure group standards are embedded locally.
  • Collaborate with the Environment Manager, covering each other when needed.

Requirements

  • Experienced in either heavy industry or Manufacturing.
  • Understand high-risk environments.
  • Ability to influence without forcing.
  • Communicate clearly, confidently, and with emotional intelligence.
  • Resilient, proactive, and thrive in dynamic environments.
  • Ready to help build stronger systems, better processes, and a more data-driven approach to safety.
