About the Role
Eftsure is seeking a Director of Quality Engineering to define, build, and govern quality across the technology organization during a transition to AI-led software development. This is an engineering leadership role focused on quality mandates, not QA management or test automation.
Responsibilities
- Set standards for reviewing and validating AI-generated code and tests.
- Design and manage quality gates within CI/CD pipelines for both human-written and AI-generated code.
- Shift focus from running tests to assessing risk and impact.
- Lead a distributed team of QA Engineers, guiding their growth from test execution to quality analysis and AI output validation.
- Determine the next evolution of quality measurement and reporting, including production incidents, MTTR, and relevant coverage.
- Recommend the optimal team structure for future phases.
Requirements
- Progressed from Software Engineering into quality by choice, with the ability to read and write code and discuss architecture with senior engineers.
- Personal experience building or governing AI-assisted development workflows, including designing how agents produce and validate production code and handling failure modes.
- Understanding that testing verifies code execution, while quality ensures software meets user needs.
- Comfortable slowing down processes when necessary and translating quality risk into business terms.
- Clear, direct communication skills to translate quality risk into business language and vice versa.
- Experience leading across multiple teams or products.
- 10+ years in software engineering, with at least 2 years in quality engineering, quality architecture, or a senior role with significant quality ownership.
- Demonstrated understanding of working with or governing AI-assisted development workflows.
- Experience designing CI/CD quality gates and automated testing frameworks.
