About the Role

This role is responsible for shaping enterprise-wide contractor partnering and leading HSEH due diligence across APA’s M&A and integration activities, driving a proactive, risk-based approach that influences safety outcomes at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the governance and continuous improvement of APA’s end-to-end contractor partnering framework, embedding consistent, best-practice approaches across the organisation.
  • Partner with senior leaders across Infrastructure Delivery and Operations to strengthen contractor risk management, influence decision-making and uplift HSEH performance in APA’s highest-risk area.
  • Drive HSEH input into M&A due diligence, acquisitions and integrations, shifting capability from reactive support to proactive, value-adding engagement.
  • Design and evolve frameworks, protocols and systems for contractor partnering and HSEH integration, including contributing to upcoming digital enablement initiatives.
  • Deliver Line 2 assurance and oversight, providing insights into contractor performance, systemic risks and control effectiveness to support Board and regulatory reporting.
  • Analyse trends, incidents and lessons learned to identify enterprise-wide improvement opportunities and embed continuous improvement across major contracts and transactions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in HSE assurance, governance or risk roles within complex, asset-intensive or operational environments.
  • Demonstrated capability in establishing or enhancing contractor partnering frameworks and driving consistency across large organisations.
  • Experience supporting or leading HSE due diligence and integration activities within M&A environments.
  • Strong technical understanding of safety management systems, assurance practices and risk controls.
  • Ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders without direct authority, building trust across diverse internal and external partners.
  • A strategic mindset with a track record of translating data, insights and experience into practical, enterprise-level improvements.
