About the Role

Perform quality routine and specialized radiographic procedures for interpretation by radiologists. Participate in quality improvement processes, assess professional performance, and maintain a safe environment. Responsible for patient care, documentation, quality control, and quality improvement. Provide training and education to students, technologists, nursing staff, residents, fellows, and others.

Responsibilities

• Broad knowledge of MRI physics and procedures, with understanding appropriate for ages 0 to adulthood.
• Operate and troubleshoot all required equipment, including automated processors, film equipment, R.I.S., and PACS.
• Basic Life Support and medical terminology understanding is required.
• Successfully demonstrate professional fundamental competencies.
• Be articulate, courteous, and supportive in interactions with patients, parents, nursing, faculty, administrative, and departmental personnel to achieve excellent customer service and positive guest relations.
• Honor confidentiality.
• Independently scan patients by following established protocols.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills.
• Utilize basic office equipment.
• Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to produce diagnostic information.
• Recognize patient conditions essential for successful procedure completion.
• Possess, utilize, maintain, and enhance knowledge of MRI safety and protection for self, patients, and others.
• Demonstrate a detailed understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• Act as a liaison between patients, radiologists, and other members of the support team.
• Maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique.
• Prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications in accordance with state regulations and institution policy.

Requirements

• 3 years of Radiology experience.
• Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program required.
• MR-ARRT certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required or ARMRIT-America Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists.
• R-AART preferred.
• CMRT from the Texas Medical Board preferred.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association preferred.
