About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Corporate Lawyer/Senior Lawyer to join our Legal team on a 12-month maximum term contract. Reporting to the Head of Legal, Corporate, you’ll provide trusted legal, regulatory and governance advice that helps Zurich achieve its strategic objectives while protecting the business and managing legal, regulatory and reputational risk. This is a broad and commercially focused role where you’ll partner with stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand, advising on a diverse range of corporate, commercial, technology, regulatory and financial services matters. You’ll play an important role in enabling business outcomes while helping Zurich continue its digital transformation journey.

Responsibilities

  • Providing practical legal, regulatory and governance advice to business stakeholders
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts
  • Managing legal risks and supporting effective decision making across business initiatives
  • Advising on legislative and regulatory developments and their business impact
  • Supporting board and committee submissions, approvals and governance activities
  • Contributing to continuous improvement within the Legal function

Requirements

  • Recognised Australian legal qualifications and eligibility to practise law in an Australian jurisdiction
  • At least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in corporate and commercial law within private practice or an in-house environment
  • Experience working in the financial services industry and knowledge of the financial services licensing and regulatory regime
  • Strong contract drafting, negotiation and legal advisory capability
  • The ability to communicate complex legal concepts in a practical and commercially focused way
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
