About the Role

As an Advisor, Employee and Labour Relations, you will foster a fair and harmonious work environment in a dynamic health care setting. You will solve employee issues while ensuring compliance with policies, legislation, and collective agreements, directly contributing to a supportive and thriving workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with stakeholders and team with the HR Manager, staff and department leaders on employee and labour relations inquiries.
  • Support the accurate and timely interpretation and application of applicable legislation, policies, procedures, and collective agreements.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate employee and labour relations issues; refer complex inquiries to appropriate HR team members as appropriate.
  • Conduct investigations into issues as directed, including participating in fact-finding meetings, preparing interview questionnaires, and preparing reports and related correspondence.
  • Organize and support employee and labour relations meetings, including scheduling, preparing materials, and tracking follow-up actions.
  • Maintain a variety of employee and labour relations files (e.g., incidents, investigations, grievances, etc.) with a high degree of accuracy and promptness; compile, maintain and support the tracking and reporting on relevant departmental information and metrics.
  • Research employee and labour relations issues to support issue resolution as assigned; create case file chronologies, generate and analyze data, create reports and summaries.
  • Actively participate in various HR projects.
  • Participate in the preparation of training programs as required.
  • Promote a collaborative work environment and supports colleagues as needed to ensure optimal team functioning; provide coverage for team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Experience using human resource information systems.
  • 1 year of experience in human resources, including experience in employee and labour relations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Human Resources best practices, applicable legislation, policies, procedures and collective agreements.
  • Must be discreet and demonstrate sound judgment, analytical ability, diplomacy and tact to deal effectively with all levels in the organization, especially when dealing with sensitive issues.
  • Exceptional consultative, relationship building and conflict management skills to interact effectively with various stakeholders and problem solve issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and changing priorities while maintaining high degree of accuracy and customer service.
