About the Role
The Assistant Manager will lead their team to fulfill Blick’s commitment to customers, the Arts, and local communities by exhibiting exceptional teamwork, boundless curiosity, and utmost care.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee the overall operations of the retail location.
- Increase sales volume, uphold customer service values, develop and maintain customer and school relationships, maintain proper stock levels, inventory replenishment orders, special orders, and factory direct drop shipping orders.
- Assist the Store General Manager with the House Account Program, including processing orders, contacting customers, and maintaining relationships.
- Provide customer service at the Custom Services desk, including making appointments, consulting with customers, taking orders, and delivering completed orders.
- Assist the local or remote Custom Services production team by analyzing Work in Progress reports, ordering framing supplies, communicating with the production facility, and performing light production responsibilities.
- Oversee all aspects of inventory, including Vendor Direct and Special Orders, Min/Max Changes, Inventory Adjustments, Weekly Cycle Counts, Store Transfers, RTVs, and shipment processing.
- Maintain company POGs, display and signage compliance, cleanliness standards, and supply orders.
- Coordinate pre-inventory tasks, including store map creation, section labeling, pre-count assignments, product bundling, labeling non-scan product, staff assignments, and post-inventory form completion and transmission.
- Ensure compliance with Loss Prevention and Safety measures, Company Policies and Procedures, and operational controls.
- Perform shift supervision, including opening and closing the store, managing payroll, creating weekly schedules, and assigning daily tasks.
- Interview candidates for open non-exempt associate positions.
- Solve associate issues in partnership with management.
- Execute training for all store associates on onboarding, sales programs, promotional events, featured products, and custom services.
- Communicate and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals for all associates.
- Coordinate marketing programs at the store level and ensure compliance with national marketing programs.
- Manage the financial well-being of the store using the annual budget and monthly Profit & Loss reports.
- Oversee ordering of store supplies and monitor expenses.
Requirements
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent Communication Skills.
- Willing and able to relocate for future opportunities if required.
- Willing and able to work a minimum of two nights per work week.
- Must close Friday and Saturday a minimum of one weekend per accounting period.
- Must close a minimum of one Sunday per accounting period.
- Availability to work flexible schedules including day/evening shifts, weekends and holidays as required by the needs of the business.
- Regular attendance in accordance with the attendance policy.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds while using the appropriate lifting techniques and following all safety rules.
- Prolonged walking, standing, and climbing ladders.
- High School Diploma, College preferred but not required.
- One year of previous retail management experience or one year of employment with Blick.
- Demonstrated superior sales performance throughout career.
- Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
