About the Role
Join ASX, a leading global securities exchange and trusted market operator, as part of a team responsible for critical market infrastructure, including the reference data system and Markets announcement platform. This role is key to maintaining and enhancing these vendor platforms and their customizations.
Responsibilities
- Act as a practitioner within the Quality Engineering and Testing Capability Community of Practice.
- Collaborate with BAs, Developers, Support Analysts, and Business Stakeholders to understand requirements and technical scope.
- Investigate defect causes and verify resolutions.
- Ensure traceability from tests back to requirements.
- Assist in test planning, including test environments, data, and tools.
- Manage and own the test automation framework and tools.
- Identify, diagnose, and log bugs or system anomalies.
- Utilize Waterfall and/or Agile methodologies and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery processes.
- Create and maintain automated test code and scripts, execute automated tests, and interpret results.
- Maintain records of testing defects, assumptions, results, and signoffs for releases.
- Interpret and execute complex test scripts, analyze results, and maintain a defect register.
- Support and implement the ASX Software Testing Policy and Guidelines.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in building automation frameworks, scripts, and tools.
- Experience in a structured development process with automated System and System Integration testing.
- Proven experience in automation design based on in-depth technical and requirements analysis.
- Exposure to automation at both the UI and API levels.
- Experience working as part of an agile, cross-functional team.
- Exposure to SQL query writing and basic database skills.
- Exposure to XML, AVRO, or other message parsing.
- Experience with DevOps and Continuous Integration tools (GITLAB, Nexus, SonarQube).
- Experience with Cucumber, Selenium, Playwright, Mockito, or RestAssured.
- Exposure to non-functional testing, such as performance and load testing.
- Strong programming and scripting skills with JAVA, PowerShell, or Python.
- Experience with testing micro-services and/or container-based architectures.
- Knowledge of messaging protocols, such as SWIFT, JSON, XML, or FIX.
- Experience creating or contributing to automated test frameworks.
- Capital Markets industry experience, including understanding of stocks, shares, derivatives markets, and clearing processes.
- Ability to think laterally and propose automation ideas for repeatable tasks.
- Legally authorized to work in Australia on a permanent basis without restrictions.
