About the Role

Under the supervision of the Manager of Residential Life, the Residential Life Assistant prioritizes the safety, health, and wellness of students and staff. This role assists in implementing student life programming, supervising students, and chaperoning field trips and doctor visits. The position requires the assistant to be at least 21 years old and includes complimentary housing while on call and a meal plan.

Responsibilities

Serves "in-loco parentis" for students living in the facility and responds to emergencies.
Reinforces residents' compliance with fire, safety, security, and curfew guidelines.
Triages urgent matters involving students and the residence, communicating with parents.
Supervises minor students during scheduled, urgent, and emergency doctor's appointments.
Cultivates, coordinates, and assists in developing student leadership and responsibility through programming and direct involvement.
Oversees and assures student participation in housekeeping, events, activities, bed-check, and curfew.
Develops, implements, and evaluates programs and events focusing on quality, safety, and age-appropriateness.
Educates students to be supportive community members responsible for their actions and behavior.
Communicates with students regarding the rationale behind policies and procedures.
Establishes and maintains communication with students through individual contacts, meetings, and discussions.
Coordinates the implementation of roommate and community agreement processes.
Applies fair and consistent disciplinary standards for all dormitory students.
Refers major disciplinary offenses to the Manager of Residential Life or Manager, Student Services.
Manages facility systems including room assignments, badge issuance, and maintenance of office space, common room, kitchen, storage, and laundry areas.
Assumes "on-call" responsibility on a scheduled basis.
Performs other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old.
Must commit to employment through June 6, 2027.
Employment subject to a successful Live Scan background check and fingerprinting.
Must be able to physically assist an injured student, including lifting and supporting their weight.
Must be able to lift boxes of supplies weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted.
Must be able to climb/descend stairs.

Experience Level

Salary/Compensations

$23.00 - $25.00 Hourly
