About the Role

Perform a variety of ultrasound imaging procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of ultrasound equipment for the diagnosis of disease in patients.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate scheduling and patient preparation for sonography examinations.
  • Review Control Sheet for correct ordered exam and other pertinent clinical data prior to sonography examination.
  • Position patient as appropriate for each specific procedure.
  • Select appropriate ultrasound technical and recording parameters.
  • Perform proper patient identification as per organizational protocol.
  • Begin and end cases in accordance with Departmental procedures.
  • Provide a permanent record of significant functional and/or anatomical and pathological data obtained.
  • Send images to PACS.
  • Maintain appropriate records and files.
  • Ensure proper supplies and equipment operation.
  • Maintain ultrasound rooms in a clean and neat condition.
  • Participate in training programs in ultrasonography where appropriate.
  • Be familiar with the needs of all infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Maintain the room and equipment in a neat clean condition.
  • Notify supervisor, service engineers or department administrator of any room or equipment condition which may warrant corrective action, repair, replacement or may in any way contribute to reduction in the safety, health of patient or employee.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved training program in Ultrasound Technology.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Basic knowledge of imaging equipment used.
  • Ability to fully utilize OBH Radiology electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds as well as assist with patient maneuvering.

Education Level

  • Completion of an approved training program in Ultrasound Technology
