About the Role
Responsible for interfacing with clients daily to manage 1031 Exchange processes, ensuring professional and timely handling of transactions in adherence to IRC§1031 Regulations. This role supports client onboarding, transaction coordination, and file maintenance, while acting as a liaison for operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Collect necessary items for exchange documents from clients, attorneys, or closing agents.
- Open 1031 Exchange Accounts and update transaction tracking spreadsheets and software.
- Prepare and send exchange agreements, deadline packages, funds authorizations, and closing packages.
- Serve as the primary contact for transactional and operational needs.
- Ensure the operational integrity of the assigned area of responsibility.
- Resolve problems and answer questions related to 1031 Exchanges and accounts.
- Handle all areas of 1031 operations, including new account requests, research, and wires.
- Provide accurate and timely information to customer inquiries to ensure client retention and expand referrals.
- Assist clients in understanding IRC§1031 rules, regulations, deadlines, and identification requirements.
- Comply with all bank risk management, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in client calls and presentations with Certified Exchange Specialists®.
- Assist in onboarding new client relationships.
- Provide technical expertise for problem-solving and recommend methods to improve productivity.
- Handle complex and sensitive account relationships.
- Work with Relationship Managers and business line partners.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of 1031 exchange experience.
- Minimum 3 years of client services experience.
- Minimum 3 years of banking operations experience.
- Strong understanding of IRC§1031 Regulations.
- Knowledgeable in all phases of the 1031 exchange process.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of an organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in multi-tasking and prioritizing projects.
- Good analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle the largest, most complex, and sensitive account relationships.
- Strong operational knowledge.
- Thorough knowledge of all bank products and services.
- Excellent Microsoft Office suite skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness to study to qualify for the Certified Exchange Specialist® designation test.
