About the Role

Prepare meals in accordance with portion and quality standards specified in recipes. Control food usage to minimize waste and ensure guests receive high-quality food items in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals for respective section(s) Fine Dining A la Carte and Event.
  • Assist in all kitchen activities to ensure high quality food items are served promptly.
  • Coordinate service related to the pass and pick-up of food.
  • Organize daily prepping for restaurants, including line setup.
  • Advise supervisor of low inventory items.
  • Assist in receiving items and taking inventory.
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area.
  • Report all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
  • Assist in the training of kitchen team members.
  • Ensure all cooks' duties are performed during the shift.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
  • May occasionally interact directly with guests.
  • Perform functions with minimal supervision.
  • May assist by performing ware washer/dishwasher or other kitchen duties as needed.
  • May assist with other duties as assigned.
  • Follow all Company and Brand Standards in carrying out duties.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform functions including carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand up and move about the kitchen.
  • Ability to handle food, objects, products and utensils.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • Communication skills (written and oral) are utilized a significant amount of time.
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when preparing meals from a recipe or keeping track of inventory.
  • Problem solving and reasoning abilities are utilized.
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, percentages, quantities, and variances are used frequently.
  • Possess a food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or provincial government agency.
  • Must work nights.
  • 2-3 years of cooking experience in a fast-paced restaurant is an asset.
  • Culinary diploma/degree is an asset.
  • Food Handler’s Certification is an asset.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
  • Ability to take direction and work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late nights.
  • Positive attitude and direct communication skills.
