About the Role

This role provides direct support to the Production Engineering Team Leader and Production Engineers, executing tasks under their guidance. The primary focus is on processing RMA's, inspecting and calibrating returned products, and assisting with quarantine investigations and First Article Inspections (FAI).

Responsibilities

  • Process and resolve RMA's, ensuring quality handling and reporting aligned with SLAs.
  • Inspect, re-calibrate, and report on products returning from the field for service.
  • Execute internal and external calibration for production tools and test equipment via the MaintainX platform.
  • Assist in investigating quarantines, managing devices from quarantine to repeat calibration and validation.
  • Assist with FAI of mechanical and electronic components as directed.
  • Ensure the production environment is prepared for assembly, maintaining strict quality standards.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by assisting with process development, documentation, and validation.
  • Document vendor NCR's.
  • Assist with INCR's and PCR's.
  • Perform minor work instruction updates.
  • Support the Production Engineering team with directed tasks.
  • Handle RMA's, contribute to root cause analysis, and quote RMA-related repairs and services.
  • Perform FAI of parts and components using basic metrology tools, including PCBA inspection and firmware flashing.
  • Maintain and calibrate production tools and equipment, ensuring clear communication to avoid production impact.
  • Support continuous improvement and manage change within the production team.
  • Assist with the implementation of new products into manufacturing, including validation builds and drafting instructions.
  • Support the development of Quality Systems (QA/QC) to meet quality targets.
  • Develop an operational understanding of all company aspects and immerse in the team and organization.
  • Live by company values and set quantifiable targets.
  • Advocate for safety, remain compliant with HSE requirements, and live a safety culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering.
  • 1 year of experience in a similar position within a similar industry is preferred.
  • Awareness of suppliers/supply chain relevant to Advanced Navigation (Machining, 3D Printing, Dispensing, PCBA, Optics, MEMs).
  • Exposure in the assembly & fabrication of cutting-edge mechanical and electronic technology products or similar.
  • Capable of upskilling quickly to develop technical capabilities in a challenging technical domain.
  • Able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders across the business.
  • Exposure to structured problem solving, fault finding and basic debugging skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to provide accurate technical documentation.
  • Highly motivated with an energetic, responsive, and decisive disposition.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS practices.
  • Proven high standard of attention to detail, time management, and follow-through.
