About the Role

The Senior Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for the clinical practice of medicine within a designated specialty, working in collaboration with a supervising physician. This role requires a minimum of five years of clinical experience, serving as an advanced practitioner who manages complex patient care scenarios independently. The Senior PA contributes to medical education, patient relations, and continuous practice-based learning.

Responsibilities

Leads clinical decision-making in high-pressure situations to facilitate resolution of challenging patient care scenarios.
Applies advanced clinical science knowledge to deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based patient care.
Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure clear exchange of information and collaborative care planning.
Provides patient-centered care that reflects compassion, respect, and responsiveness to individual needs and preferences.
Collaborates constructively with healthcare professionals to optimize patient safety, care quality, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
Upholds ethical, culturally sensitive, and legally compliant medical practice in all aspects of patient care and professional conduct.
Evaluates patients by obtaining comprehensive health histories and performing physical examinations.
Responsible for direct patient care and coordination within specialty areas.
Orders, reviews, and interprets labs, imaging, diagnostic testing, and consultations to develop a patient care plan.
Prescribes medications and therapeutic interventions following standard of care and practice guidelines.
Documents patient care in medical records according to best practice standards.
Counsels and educates patients and caregivers on disease management, prevention, and health promotion.
Confers with specialists, physicians, residents, APPs, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers to promote continuity of care.
Assists in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of research protocols when applicable.
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as determined by the delineation of privileges.
Educates and counsels patients as per specialty practice standards.
Performs related duties as determined by patient or practice needs and delineation of privileges.
Obtains informed consent, as indicated.

Requirements

Graduate from ARC-PA accredited program
Master’s degree in PA studies or a related discipline preferred.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in specialty or similar specialty as a Physician Assistant.
Clinical leadership experience in an acute care setting with evidence of strong leadership potential.
