About the Role

As a Data Governance/DQ Analyst, you will provide project and application support for Meta data and Data Quality management within RBC Capital Markets. Your focus will be on adopting Data Governance and Data Quality principles, finding solutions to complex data issues, capturing business needs, and prioritizing Data Quality requirements with end users.

Responsibilities

  • Provide BAU support for Operations, Data Quality, Data Governance and related applications like IBM’s Infosphere Information Server, Collibra.
  • Document, Monitor and Manage Data Quality Rules and Reports.
  • Partner with business users to understand and capture relevant business requirements.
  • Help develop and prioritize remediation plans for DQ issues with business customers, using best practices and guidelines.
  • Develop simple metrics to report on remediation outcome and improve data quality.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and automated approaches for data quality tasks.
  • Document existing and potential data structures and data flow processes.
  • Identify approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Ensure Capital Markets Business Meta Data is up to date and correct.
  • Support Capital Markets Business Lines and Regulatory Programs in adopting Data Governance Principles and using the enterprise Business Glossary platform.
  • Communicate and collaborate with business clients to analyze requirements and deliver necessary artifacts.
  • Conduct data analysis supporting applications and projects, including identifying and documenting business rules, data needs, and data specifications.
  • Ensure new solutions address immediate business needs while aligning with Enterprise CDO strategy and application roadmaps.
  • Promote the Capital Markets Data Quality Center of Excellence process to all teams in CM.
  • Deliver data management and governance reporting and metrics for tracking levels and progress.
  • Work with internal and external IT partners during upgrades or technology enhancements.
  • Participate in Risk, Audit, Compliance and Regulatory requests for the Data Management & Analytics team.
  • Work closely with business and IT to ensure new data quality requirements are understood and documented effectively.
  • Capture DQ metrics and report them for visibility and tracking of progress and value.
  • Facilitate the investigation into root cause of data quality issues by working with Stewardship and IT teams.
  • Train, teach, and mentor other team members to support internal growth and team success.

Requirements

  • Undergrad degree in Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Math or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry.
  • Data Quality functional & process knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of the data lifecycle, including strong focus on data governance.
  • Experience with implementing and supporting Data Quality Analysis and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL to generate custom queries and analysis.
  • Strong Python skills.
  • Working knowledge of the IBM Information Governance Catalog, Information Analyzer, DataStage & QualityStage.
  • Working knowledge of DQ tools from provider like Collibra or Informatica or Ataccama.
  • Tableau or other BI tool experience.
  • QA experience.
  • Front End design experience.
  • AI and ML experience.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Prior experience with any of the following Regulatory initiatives- like Basel II, Basel III, Dodd Frank, FBO, Volcker etc.
  • Experience using business analysis and requirements modeling tools, for: data flow diagrams, relationship data models, business process modelling.
