About the Role
RSM is seeking an Assurance Senior Associate for its Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) practice. This role involves working with public and private companies, including growth-oriented, private equity, and venture-backed firms, primarily in technology hubs. You will audit technology companies, addressing diverse and complex financial statement topics across various segments like enterprise software, SaaS, e-commerce, electronics, social media, and telecommunications.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, high-quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations.
- Coordinate audits of complex financial statements, disclosures, and other client deliverables.
- Develop an understanding of the client's business and needs, becoming an industry specialist.
- Understand and utilize RSM’s Global Audit Methodology.
- Train and supervise Audit Associates, functioning as an in-charge to monitor productivity and adherence to schedules.
- Anticipate and address client concerns, escalating issues as needed.
- Ensure efficient information flow between clients and the audit team.
- Identify and communicate significant accounting and auditing matters to engagement leadership.
- Provide insightful feedback on financial statements and prepare client deliverables like board communications and management letters.
- Recognize and address industry-specific and general accounting/auditing issues (e.g., revenue recognition, business combinations).
- Determine appropriate audit approaches for identified accounting and auditing areas.
- Identify opportunities for team member performance improvement.
- Ensure professional development through ongoing education.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the year, depending on client assignments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline from an accredited university.
- Active CPA license or demonstrated progress toward CPA licensure.
- 2–3 years of recent assurance experience in a public accounting environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and auditing software tools.
- Working knowledge of GAAP, CASs, or other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Ability to apply relevant accounting and auditing standards, such as IFRS.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills with the ability to exercise professional judgment.
- Experience supporting audit engagements from planning through completion, including testing, financial statement preparation, workpaper review, and staff mentoring.
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and electronically.
- Effective project management skills, including managing multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and at client sites.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer.
- Ability to work extended and/or non-standard hours during peak periods or as necessary.
- Ability to maintain consistent, onsite presence during core business hours, including reporting to a firm office and traveling to client sites.
- Ability to maintain access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move miscellaneous items (typically under 20 lbs.).
