About the Role

The CPT-Mass Finishing role involves observing machine operation to detect defects or malfunctions, inspecting components visually and dimensionally for specification conformance using a microscope, and adhering to standard work methods and safe work practices for efficient and safe production. The role requires a strong understanding of FDA & ISO manufacturing practices and adaptability to changes in product style, tools, and work environment. Primary responsibilities are in Mass Finishing, with potential for cross-training in other areas.

Responsibilities

Visually inspect components with the aid of a microscope fitted with reticle, understanding cosmetic and functional discrepancies and critical/non-critical areas to make pass/fail decisions.
Operate mass finishing equipment per written procedures, measuring material removal and documenting results.
Perform in-process measurement using micrometers, drop gauges, scales, PH gauge, proof tester, and optical comparators, or similar equipment.
Troubleshoot and monitor vibratory equipment daily to ensure acceptable polish results, including correct media and slurry mixes and clear drain/slurry lines.
Perform machine repairs such as replacing broken belts, worn bearings, and pulleys.
Observe machine operation to detect component defects or machine malfunction.
Follow safety practices, including wearing safety shoes and using hearing protection as required.
Control traceability of components and properly sign off on travelers and/or computer systems, ensuring documentation is acceptable.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimal supervision.
Observe safety practices concerning self and others.
Identify and recommend changes to solve problems appearing in daily processes.
Understand and follow company and departmental policies and practices.
Keep supervisor advised of work status, workload, problems, and progress related to work assignments.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

2 years in a manufacturing environment, preferred.
Experience in inspection, assembly, or similar intricate hand work, preferred.
Understand FDA & ISO manufacturing practices.
Adapt easily to changes in product style, tools, and work environment.
Perform visual inspection using a microscope for extended periods.
Maintain quality orientation and attention to detail.
Good manual dexterity for handling small parts.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written instructions.
Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, internet, and electronic mail.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Required to read, write, and speak English with good command of the language.
Follow verbal and written instructions.
Use simple math.
