About the Role

Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, the incumbent will perform specialized and routine data analysis procedures and advanced data collection techniques in controlled experiments at the VAARC and VA Advanced Imaging Technologies Laboratory. Position will aid ongoing research projects, developing technology for investigating brain structure/function. The incumbent will also assist in other related research activities and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist PI, residents, and fellows in literature review, study design, data analysis, and writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, abstracts for scientific meetings, and grant proposals
  • Support the collection of advanced 3T and 7T MRI, spectroscopy, and neuropsychological data, and operate all relevant software
  • Conduct safety screening and patient consent for MRI data collection
  • Maintain databases, subject information folders, and subject payment forms
  • Ensure IRB protocols are up-to-date and followed
  • Present at scientific meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in physics, neuroscience, psychology or related field
  • M.A. or M.S. while working toward doctoral degree considered
  • 2-3 years previous experience in MRI lab is highly desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Prior experience with MR spectroscopy preferred
  • Prior experience with 7T MRI preferred
