About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Systems Engineering team, you will own and evolve our test framework, which is a Kubernetes-native system that qualifies host images and infrastructure on real hardware. You'll harden the framework's core, broaden its validation capabilities, and maintain CI speed and trustworthiness at fleet scale.
Responsibilities
- Own and extend the test framework, which pins to a real host, boots the configuration under test, runs a containerized check, validates it, and records a structured result.
- Broaden framework qualifications to include HPC and fabric verification, Slurm-on-Kubernetes (SUNK), and firmware/hardware, building abstractions for easy addition of new coverage.
- Maintain a fast, hermetic, and trustworthy pipeline through boot consistency, per-host resource locking, and flaky-test elimination.
- Own the end-to-end results and reporting path, including structured test results, storage, dashboards, and triage surfaces for quick root cause analysis.
- Explore AI-native testing, such as LLM-driven log triage, failure classification, and regression detection.
- Collaborate with firmware, kernel, imaging, and HPC teams to integrate testing into their release processes.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience building test infrastructure, systems software, or platform tooling at scale, with ownership of frameworks or automation for low-level software.
- Fluent in Python.
- Comfortable operating in a Kubernetes environment and understanding software build, containerization, deployment, and testing processes.
- Solid Linux systems background, including the boot chain, kernel and drivers, low-level debugging, and comfort working close to hardware.
- Demonstrated testing discipline, including building automation to prove system functionality and strong opinions on flakiness, hermeticity, and signal.
- Clear communicator who treats the test framework as a product for other engineers.
- Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to access export controlled information without authorization, or likely to obtain required authorization.
