About the Role

Civil Inspector is responsible for providing inspection services for multiple Wastewater Treatment Facilities, including associated pump stations and Combined Sewage Overflow ("CSO") facilities. This role ensures compliance with project specifications and quality measures through continuous technical inspections and daily reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inspection services for various NYCDEP projects, including Plumbing (Mechanical), General Construction (Structural), HVAC, and Electrical (including Instrumentation) trades.
  • Monitor all construction activities to guarantee compliance with project specifications.
  • Conduct continuous technical inspections to confirm daily implementation of quality measures.
  • Prepare daily field technical reports and computations.
  • Collect and document initial, progress, and final photographs.
  • Conduct substantial and final inspections alongside supervisors and designated personnel.
  • Verify contractor adherence to contract requirements, quality control standards, and safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of NYCDEP Construction Inspection of Wastewater Treatment Plants or facilities.
  • OSHA Construction 30-hour certification.
  • Scaffolding User 4-hour course (NYC accredited).
  • Confined Space 8-hour course.
  • LOTO 2-hour course.
  • Fall protection 4-hour course.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Car required.

Skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
  • Detailed oriented and reliable.
  • High-level interpersonal, diplomacy, and organizational skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple team members.

  • New York Office - Staten Island, NY 10306
  • Multiple Project Locations, including Brooklyn, Jamaica, Queens, and Owls Head, Rockaway WWRFs
  • Field Office in Brooklyn

  • $60.00 - $60.00 Hourly
  • $65-70/hour
