About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mainframe COBOL Developer to join our technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of COBOL-based applications on our mainframe systems. This role involves working with complex business logic and ensuring the stability and performance of mission-critical applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS and VSAM.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Perform system analysis, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation of mainframe applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and project managers, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to mainframe applications.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in mainframe development.
• Creates and leads the technical design and development of software solutions.
• Proposes & designs software solutions to address complex business needs.
• Prepares technical and procedural documentation required.
• Facilitates complex problem resolution.
• Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues.
• Reviews coding, testing, and documentation of software.
• Applies modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities.

Requirements

• Operating systems: IBM z/OS, AIX, Linux (Red Hat), Windows
• Mainframe: COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, TSO/ISPF, Easytrieve, Endevor , CA7, Control M, BMC AMI DevX Code Pipeline
• Relational databases: DB2, Oracle
• Experience with Fiserv’s PEP+ ACH system
• API development experience , including but not limited to using Z/OS Connect
• Experience in financial services or insurance industry
• Customer Focused - Knowledgeable of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and able to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
• Managing Risk - Assessing and effectively managing all of the risks associated with their business objectives and activities to ensure they adhere to and support PNC's Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
