About the Role
The In-Flight Quality and Standards Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing regulatory compliance programs and SMS case management within the In-Flight department, ensuring alignment with Canadian aviation regulations, internal standards, and industry best practices. This role also provides direction on training standards and supports initiatives for consistency, safety, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Oversee in-flight safety case management, including report delegation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Drive department KPIs for case lifecycle compliance as outlined in the SMS Policy Manual.
- Implement and maintain the Line Operations Safety Audit (LOSA).
- Liaise with the Manager, Cabin Safety, regarding regulatory requirements.
- Research and develop cabin safety policies, procedures, and evaluation criteria for standardization.
- Provide subject matter expertise on Canadian Aviation Regulations, Commercial Air Service Standards, Advisory Circulars, and other related regulatory materials.
- Monitor for compliance and/or changes in applicable documents to maintain adherence to regulatory and IOSA standards.
- Complete compliance reviews of the Flight Attendant Manual and training program amendments before submission to Transport Canada.
- Administer the Training Monitoring Program and provide recommendations to enhance flight attendant training.
- Assist the Manager, Cabin Safety, with activities related to the entry into service of new aircraft.
- Create, document, and maintain key in-flight quality processes in the In-Flight Operations Process and Procedures Manual.
- Contribute to a culture of continual improvement in cabin safety.
- Lead, coordinate, and participate in various in-flight projects and initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Clear criminal record check and satisfactory references.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
Skills
- In-depth knowledge of CARs, CASS, ACs, CLC, IOSA, etc., as they relate to cabin safety.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis and develop effective corrective actions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with regulatory authorities.

Experience Level
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience applying 705 Commercial Air Services regulations.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity within a cabin safety regulatory environment.
Education Level
- Post-secondary education in Aviation, Safety Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Completion of Transport Canada-approved Flight Attendant Manager training or designation is preferred.
- Current or previous Transport Canada designation as a Flight Attendant Manager under CASS 725.07 is considered a strong asset.
