About the Role

The Clinical Research Coordinator III collaborates with Investigators and the health care team to assume responsibility for the overall patient management and coordination of several clinical studies for the Department of Medical Oncology. This role primarily works with the Sarcoma disease site team, expanding the nurse's knowledge base and professional practice within the realm of clinical trials.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment of study participants, including identifying and screening potential subjects and obtaining informed consent
• Coordination of patient visit schedules as per study protocol
• Execution of all aspects of study visits, including assessment of adverse events, monitoring safety, medication, questionnaires, and sample collection, processing, and shipment according to clinical protocol
• Provides clinical care for patients participating in clinical trials
• Implementation and coordination of all aspects of data collection and source documentation within required timeframes, as per UHN policy and ICH/GCP guidelines
• Other study related activities, as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, or recognized equivalent, and current certificate of competence (license/registration) from a college legislated under the Regulated Health Professional Act
• Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 to 5 years clinical and/or professional experience
• Minimum one (1) year clinical experience in oncology with strong knowledge base in Sarcoma
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Attention to detail and meticulous documentation practice
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care
• Evidence of good physical assessment, psychosocial assessment and patient/family teaching skill
• Autonomous clinical critical thinking ability
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to set priorities and work independently with accuracy in a dynamic environment
• Current employees must have successfully completed their probationary period, have a good employee record along with satisfactory attendance

Skills

• Clinical research certification (ACRP or SOCRA) obtained or plans to work towards
• Knowledge of IATA shipping regulations and basic laboratory procedures
• Proficiency with MS Office software – Word, Excel and Power Point
• Training in ICH/GCP guidelines
