About the Role

The Data Analytics Rotation Training Program aims to provide opportunities for first-generation graduates looking to build a career in data strategy and analytics professions. This 2-year program includes rotations through 4 departments, lasting six months each, with the goal of preparing trainees for analytics leadership roles at Sony Music. The program begins in August 2027 and offers essential background and experience in various analytics and business functions within a music company.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside analytics team members to support various teams, including record labels, to drive artist and music success.
  • Transform data and trends into custom insights and strategic recommendations using internal data systems, digital partner analytics tools, and third-party data sources.
  • Perform deep-dive analyses from large datasets and multiple sources to develop business cases, benchmark analysis, monitor complex project performance, and educate teams on industry trends.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of impactful reports and dashboards for numerous departments.
  • Understand data sources and systems to ensure data integrity and report accuracy.
  • Learn software and languages such as Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI, and SQL.
  • Build relationships across multiple teams to foster career growth in music analytics.

Requirements

  • Open to Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter 2026 and Winter/Spring 2027 college graduates (undergraduate or graduate program) with a degree in analytics, finance, economics, computer science, business, statistics, math, or similar fields.
  • Possess a strong desire to learn and grow, with curiosity and excitement for new projects.
  • Demonstrate an analytical mindset with the ability to derive conclusions from data.
  • Show passion for the music and entertainment business and a desire to build a career in the industry.
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLookups, etc.) and experience using PowerPoint.
  • Pro-active and able to flourish in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with music streaming and social media platforms.
  • Open to relocation (within the U.S. or internationally) upon completion of the program and placement into a permanent role.
