About the Role
Gridmatic is seeking its first internal legal counsel to build out commercial legal functions. This role requires an autonomous, startup-minded attorney with excellent communication skills to draft, negotiate, and establish commercial processes for efficient and safe scaling.
Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating core energy agreements (renewable and storage power purchase agreements, tolling agreements).
- Managing relationships with outside counsel.
- Managing and negotiating trading frameworks (ISDAs, EEIs).
- Structuring and negotiating retail electric power customer contracts.
- Establishing and standardizing legal policies, processes, templates, and workflows.
- Collaborating with commercial teams to align legal strategy with company goals.
Requirements
- Must be an active, licensed attorney.
- 4 to 10 years of legal experience.
- Strong energy contracting experience.
- Highly autonomous, clear, and proactive communicator.
- Comfortable operating without an existing playbook.
