About the Company

  • The Texas Civil Rights Project (TCRP) is a community lawyering organization serving the movement for equality and justice. TCRP works to advance a vision of a Texas where all communities can thrive with dignity and justice, without fear. For over thirty-five years, TCRP has partnered with community organizers, families, and advocacy groups statewide. TCRP's work includes dismantling mass incarceration, fighting discrimination in voting and civic participation, and addressing injustices at the Texas border, all through a race equity lens. TCRP comprises three regional offices across Texas, with over 50 employees and an annual budget exceeding $7 million. TCRP requires staff to live in Texas and strives for geographic diversity. TCRP employs staff in fully remote positions in cities where TCRP does not maintain an office. Some travel is required for in-person activities. TCRP uses legal advocacy and litigation to empower Texas communities and create change. TCRP is among the most influential civil rights organizations in Texas, working with coalitions of community-based organizations to identify injustices and develop systemic solutions. TCRP welcomes innovative thinkers and offers flexibility.
  • In recent years, the Texas Legislature has restricted civil rights, leading TCRP to become more involved in the legislative process to protect Texans' freedoms, especially for marginalized communities. TCRP supports advocacy in the Legislature by empowering grassroots organizations with analyses of bills, identifying legislative rule opportunities, expanding coalition diversity, and uniting the movement behind joint advocacy efforts.
