About the Role
Saint Vincent's Hospital Westchester seeks a BC/BE psychiatrist for the Evaluation and Referral Service to conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, assess safety, determine appropriate treatment paths (inpatient vs. outpatient psychiatric and/or substance abuse services), and initiate orders, including medications.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations on walk-in and psychiatric emergency clients.
- Evaluate transfers from other psychiatric emergency rooms.
- Collaborate with and follow up on cases initiated by Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and social workers.
- Assess client safety.
- Determine appropriate inpatient vs. outpatient psychiatric and/or substance abuse services.
- Write initial orders, including medications as appropriate.
