About the Role
The Lead Specialty Nurse RN serves as the office's primary contact for nursing and clinical activities, assisting management by leading daily clinical operations and ensuring quality care delivery. This role maintains a safe and therapeutic environment, provides direct patient care, and guides clinical staff.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily work of clinical employees in a specialty office.
- Distribute assignments and monitor work for quality and completeness.
- Promote effective teamwork and assist staff through changes.
- Provide direct patient care, including assisting specialty providers with procedures.
- Act as the central point of contact for nursing and clinical standards within the office.
- Serve as the point of contact for nursing clinical practice workflows related to EMR and quality initiatives.
- Act as the resource for the nursing/clinical team regarding scope of practice and skill competency.
- Mentor staff on nursing performance and learning needs.
- Assist office management with new hire orientation on clinical policies and procedures.
- Assist in staff professional development and competency assessment.
- Ensure clinical staff have necessary resources, tools, and training.
- Serve as the nursing resource liaison between internal and external departments.
- Maintain knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to ensure a professional, safe, and compliant environment.
- Ensure clinical policies and procedures comply with current state and federal guidelines.
- Act as the clinical expert and role model, engaging with staff nurses in clinical decision-making and problem-solving.
- Identify and recommend solutions to procedural issues and opportunities.
- Make recommendations to ensure quality, compliance, safety, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure and maintain adequate clinical supplies, medication storage, and PAR level management.
- Ensure clinical equipment remains in operating condition.
- Ensure emergency equipment and medications remain up-to-date and in operating condition.
- Attend office staff meetings and training sessions, relaying pertinent information to clinical team members.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Graduate of a professional nursing education program.
- At least 2-3 years' experience working within a specialty office setting.
- Proficient ability in use of electronic medical record, specifically established nursing work flows.
- Problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with a variety of clinicians, providers, staff, and patients positively.
- Ability to adapt easily to changing conditions and work responsibilities.
- Ability to influence, guide, and motivate others.
