About the Role
Young Invincibles is seeking a Fellow to join our New York team for a 3-month period. The Fellow will be instrumental in the organization's policy, advocacy, research, communications, and legislative efforts in New York.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to building Young Invincibles’ New York network, campaigns, and partnerships.
- Play an integral role in city and state-based policy advocacy, communications, research, writing, and trainings.
- Work with partner organizations, coalitions, and the young adult network to build support for state higher education research, policies, legislation, and consumer education.
- Connect with partners, coalitions, and stakeholders on higher education and health care policies to support equitable city and state policies.
- Attend in-person meetings, potential conferences, partner meetings, and/or similar events to represent Young Invincibles.
- Support young adult engagement and learning in our Young Advocates Program and Youth Advisory Board.
- Conduct outreach to internal and external networks.
- Support consumer education efforts.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in political science, public policy, or related field.
- Experience in policy or political advocacy.
- Exceptional research, writing, and editing skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex policy issues to a variety of audiences and mediums.
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and work in coalitions.
- Ability to communicate and partner with communities of color and young adults.
- Graduate degree in public policy, education, healthcare, or a related field (plus).
- Familiarity with New York State higher education policy (plus).
- Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced work environment and a start-up atmosphere (plus).
- Ability to thrive on change, innovation, and teamwork (plus).
- An ambitious policy professional looking to take initiative and grow organizational capacity (plus).
- Interest in a long-term position with Young Invincibles (plus).
- A passion for Young Invincibles’ mission (plus).
