About the Role
GE Vernova’s Gas Power business is seeking a Commercial Manager (Inquiry-to-Order) to lead the development of winning commercial strategies for our Gas, Generator, CC Steam, and HRSG segments. As a key member of our regional ITO team, you will serve as the architect of our commercial proposals, translating technical requirements into value-based contracts. You will own the entire "Inquiry-to-Order" process—from initial scope development and risk analysis to final contract negotiations and the seamless transition to the execution (OTR) phase.
Responsibilities
- Work as a key member of the region and/or sub-region Inquiry To Order (“ITO”) team in support of achieving the region’s and/or sub-region’s commitments, orders, sales, cash, operating profit, and margin targets for the applicable segment.
- Collaborate with the region and/or sub-region Sales, Operations, and functional teams, lead the ITO proposal generation and contract formation process for Gas/Gen/CC Steam/HRSG projects across the Transactional Services / Upgrades / CS and MMP Master Terms and Conditions segment with the intent of developing winning strategies to leverage successful deal closures while ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
- Responsible for all aspects of ITO contract creation, including proposal development, risk management and mitigation, specification compliance, scope development, transactional pricing, customer negotiations, customer communications and issue resolution.
- Accountable for effectively driving the proposal and contract ITO processes to develop scope, cost, risk, and market / value pricing strategy for an assigned deal opportunity to provide technical and commercial solutions meeting both customer and GE’s requirements and business goals.
- Collaborate with the respective sales, operations, and other functional teams during the deal development and review process to ensure that all technical risk points, risk mitigation, and business risk acceptance levels are properly incorporated into the development of the opportunity scope, cost, strategy, and actual proposal / contract language.
Requirements
- Lead proposal generation for Transactional Services, Upgrades, and Master Service Agreements.
- Define the pricing strategy, scope development, and risk mitigation required to secure high-value projects.
- Manage the end-to-end contract formation process, ensuring compliance with our Policy 5.0 risk management framework.
- Partner with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Legal to ensure technical and commercial solutions align with GE Vernova’s business goals and customer requirements.
- Prepare and lead Policy 5.0 reviews.
- Act as a technical and commercial subject matter expert to ensure that all risk points are identified, quantified, and mitigated before deal submission.
- Drive proposal throughput, hit rates, and profitability.
- Actively refine ITO processes to eliminate waste, improve speed, and increase the quality of contract flow-down to our OTR execution teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or a technical equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in the power generation industry (e.g., Field Gas Turbine Service Engineering, Commercial/Sales, (PEM) or Engineering, Sourcing, Repair, or Power Plant Experiences and/or Operations/Maintenance).
- Hands-on experience with Gas Turbines, or Steam Turbines, or Generators, or Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG).
- Proven recent experience managing Large Complex Gas Turbine Upgrades (e.g., .05 FTF Replacement and 7F.04-200 Upgrades).
- A strong track record in both Multi-Year Contractual Services and Transactional Services.
- Ability to manage high-stakes, multi-functional projects with autonomy, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional ability to present complex commercial data and risk assessments to senior leadership.
- Proficiency in drafting, reading, and negotiating complex commercial terms with minimal legal intervention.
