About the Role
This role is for an Associate actively developing skills for a Component Technician/Truss Designer. The trainee will complete an intensive 16-week training program including online, classroom, and hands-on experience, preparing them to design simple one-story structures upon completion.
Responsibilities
- Complete all phases of the Truss Designer training program under supervision.
- Prepare basic roof and/or floor truss designs by interpreting blueprints and conferring with sales/customers.
- Compute plan dimensions and enter design parameters into specialized software.
- Review plans with experienced designers for accuracy and standards compliance.
- Produce truss placement layouts for construction.
- Provide job site support when requested, with aid from sales or senior designers.
- Learn pricing methods and draft bid proposals.
- Prepare for and take certification tests.
Requirements
- Associates degree in a directly related field or equivalent field experience in Construction or Design shops.
- Prior shop experience and/or construction knowledge strongly preferred.
- Framing experience is a plus.
