About the Role
Empowering People's Independence (EPI) provides support for people with developmental disabilities, epilepsy, and brain injury through progressive, tailored care to improve their health, wellbeing, independence, and social inclusion. This role is responsible for the continuous direction and day-to-day operation of the program, providing oversight for assigned individuals and supervision to staff, and executing EPI's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the health and well-being of the individuals served by EPI.
- Report all policy violations to appropriate personnel.
- Serve as on-call as needed.
- Provide protective oversight and supervision for assigned individuals.
- Aid and provide instruction services daily to achieve individuals’ goals and objectives.
- Support and assist Habilitators.
- Ensure adequate staff coverage for shifts.
- Provide site-specific staff training as requested.
- Ensure all required reports are completed per EPI specifications.
- Follow up on employee documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Promote workplace safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or designee within scope of practice.
- Participate on various committees as able.
Requirements
- Must maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion concerning all business-related matters.
- Must be willing to complete specific company required trainings as mandated by the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) at time of hire and annually thereafter.
- Must adhere to all departmental/company policies & procedures at all times and ensure compliance with direct report.
- Consistently demonstrate EPI’s Values: Integrity, Courage, Adaptability, Respect.
- Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License.
- A vehicle is required for business travel.
- Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods of time.
- May have to twist, bend, use hand to finger, stretch with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- May be exposed to strong odors from time to time.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to changing weather conditions will occur.
Skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft programs to include Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
- Mature interpersonal/professional skills to effectively collaborate, resolve issues and maintain confidentiality.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong numerical comprehension
- Demonstrated ability to use poise, tact, and diplomacy during difficult and/or stressful situations
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and customer requests while meeting deadlines

Experience Level
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent with combined one-year experience in the human service field or an associate degree in a related field.
- May be asked to assist in corrective action and performance management discussions.

Salary/Compensations
- $21.50/hr-$27.00/hr
