About the Role
This position will be reporting to the Manager of Broadcast Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production in a control room setting. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be adaptable, and solutions driven. We are seeking a team builder and natural leader with excellent knowledge of broadcasting and a hands-on technical background. You must excel under pressure and value teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Managing Maestro and ORAD virtual set systems.
- Operating Telemetric robotic cameras for live and pre-recorded news programming.
- Performing technical setup and system checks for robotic cameras, audio consoles, studio lighting, teleprompters, closed captioning systems, and control room and studio equipment.
- Conducting quality control checks for all programming and server-based content.
- Coordinating remote live hits and live feeds, ensuring strong signal performance.
- Supporting broadcast workflows and technical operations.
- Supervising production staff and overseeing daily workflow for the team.
- Prioritizing, delegating, and managing many projects simultaneously.
- Troubleshooting technical problems in Control Rooms and studios.
- Assisting with Control Room Technician work schedules, including vacation and sick calls.
- Addressing employee concerns and complaints professionally, identifying and resolving workplace problems, and escalating appropriately when necessary.
- Providing real-time, effective, constructive feedback on team performance.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Broadcast Technology, Journalism, Radio & TV Production, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in a production control room or similar technical broadcast role.
- Proven experience leading a complex team in a large broadcast market.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to find solutions and thrive under pressure.
- Experience with newsroom and production systems such as MOSART, Open Media, Grass Valley, XPression, and ORAD.
- Strong technical knowledge of switchers, audio and lighting consoles, robotic camera systems, and graphics platforms.
- Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a drive to improve workflows.
- Ability to calmly and clearly give directions to crew while under pressure.
- Excellent multitasking and adaptability, especially in evolving technical environments.
- High level of attention to detail and quality control.
- A positive, flexible attitude with strong initiative.
