About the Role
Datadog's Technical Solutions Operations (TSO) team manages the full lifecycle of enterprise platforms and internal tools that support over 1,200 sales engineers, support engineers, and solution architects. We are seeking a Systems Engineer to own these enterprise platforms end-to-end, from understanding business processes to designing, implementing, and measuring the impact of solutions.
Responsibilities
- Own enterprise systems through their full lifecycle, including assessment, implementation, and iteration.
- Engineer solutions, integrations, automations, and internal tools to enhance the effectiveness of technical experts.
- Incorporate AI into solution design for smarter outcomes like intelligent routing and automated triage.
- Contribute to the Datadog codebase by building and shipping TS-specific features in collaboration with Engineering teams.
- Utilize AI coding tools daily to increase efficiency, explore systems, and automate tasks.
- Partner with TS leaders to understand and engineer solutions for business challenges.
- Monitor, maintain, and iterate on production systems, diagnosing issues proactively.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience with enterprise platforms and production software, including administration, extension, or integration of systems like Salesforce, Zendesk, or Jira.
- Experience building software for real users, such as web services, APIs, data pipelines, or applications.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript; polyglot skills are a plus.
- Ability to work across the full stack, including backend services, frontend development, API design, and CI/CD pipeline setup.
- Demonstrated fluency with AI coding tools like Copilot or Claude, and ability to articulate their impact on workflow.
- Experience building AI-powered features using LLMs, embeddings, RAG pipelines, or agent frameworks.
- Systems thinking approach to design reliable, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
- Experience contributing to a large shared codebase with established engineering practices (code review, CI/CD, feature flags, observability).
- Background in technical support tooling or customer-facing business systems.
- Experience in a high-growth B2B SaaS environment.
